Earl “Trey” F. Sundmaker, III, Founder


Mr. Sundmaker was born in Metairie, Louisiana in 1970. Raised in the New Orleans area, he graduated from Tulane University’s A. B. Freeman School of Business in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Management and a concentration in Accounting. In 1995 he received a juris doctorate from Loyola University School of Law as well as a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University Graduate School of Business. During law school, he was a member of the Loyola Moot Court Staff. 

Mr. Sundmaker practiced law for a short time in Lafayette, Louisiana, before returning home to New Orleans to join a well-known regional defense firm. During his first sixteen years of practicing law, Mr. Sundmaker conducted multiple bench and jury trials in both state and federal courts in the areas of medical malpractice, products liability, general casualty, breach of contract, premises liability and creditor’s rights. He also developed an extensive bankruptcy practice representing the interests of financial institutions in Chapter 7, 11 and 13 proceedings throughout Louisiana and Texas. 

In 2012, Mr. Sundmaker established The Sundmaker Firm. The firm has a general commercial litigation practice with an emphasis in creditor’s rights in Chapter 7, 11 and 13 proceedings and serves as national, regional and local counsel for its clients. The firm’s clients include CitiFinancial, Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation, Santander Consumer USA, Crescent Bank & Trust, GM Financial, Honda Financial Services, Toyota Motor Credit Corporation, Credit Acceptance, BMW Financial Services, Capital One and many others. The firm also represents many of these clients and others in general litigation matters and state court proceedings.

Mr. Sundmaker is currently admitted in all courts in the states of Louisiana and Texas as well as all Arkansas federal courts. He is a member of the National Association of Chapter Thirteen Trustees, the Federal Bar Association, Louisiana and Texas State Bar Associations, and the New Orleans Bar Association Inns of Court.
